چکیده

The time-dependent spectral characteristics of underwater sound radiated by an ocean vessel has complex dependencies on ship machinery, propeller dynamics, hydrodynamics exhaust and motion, as well board activities. Here the a equipped with controllable pitch (CPP) is analyzed quantified via its (i) power density for signal energetics, (ii) temporal coherence machinery tonal sound, (iii) amplitude-modulated cavitation noise. Frequency-modulated (FM) signals are also characterized in terms their frequency variations. These compared different ratios ranging from 20% to 82% at fixed revolutions per minute (RPM). efficacy robustness parameter estimation pitches discussed. Finally, analysis one special measurement provided, when changes speed, RPM over duration measurement. 50% found be crucial point this about which attain peak values, while broadband associated coherences minimum. findings here elucidate effects variation ships propellers applications design noise mitigation.

Determining the Hydro-acoustic Characteristics of the Ship Propeller in Uniform and Non-uniform Flow

This research has been carried out to determine the marine propeller hydro-acoustic characteristics by Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver in both uniform and non-uniform wake flow at different operating conditions Wake flow can cause changes in pressure fluctuation and gas effect on propeller noise spectrum. Noise is generated by the induced trailing vortex wake and induced pressure ...

Computational Analysis of Propeller Sheet Cavitation and Propeller-ship Interaction

This paper describes a computational procedure which is being developed for the practical analysis of propeller sheet cavitation and propeller-ship interaction including hull pressure fluctuations. The computational procedure consists of three different, coupled methods: (i) a RANS method for the analysis of the viscous flow around the ship hull and the determination of the velocity field in th...

Effect of porosity on the characteristics of underwater acoustic sound absorbers using theoretical models‎

Porous materials have good acoustic damping characteristics over a wide frequency range. As for sound waves, many small-scale pores in the coating materials can convert underwater-coating to rough surfaces. The main property of porous absorbents is their resistance against incident sound wave that leads to damping effect. From a physical point of view, damping occurs due to friction between flu...

Development and Testing of a Passive Variable-Pitch Propeller

A novel approach to passive propeller blade pitch variation is investigated. To effect passive pitch changes, the propeller blades are allowed to pivot freely about a radial axis, and aerodynamic pitchingmoments are tailored to give favorablebladepitch angles over awide range of advance ratios.Computationalmodelingof the system indicated that a large expansion of the efficient operating envelop...
